The PCA's Christian Nationalism Report: What It Actually Says (And What Critics Get Wrong)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The Presbyterian Church in America recently released a pastoral letter from its Ad Interim Committee studying Christian Nationalism. Almost immediately, critics began claiming the report promotes compromise, liberalism, and even the destruction of biblical Christianity.
But does it?
In this episode of Weighed in the Balance, I read the pastoral letter, examine the historical claims being made against the PCA, and respond point-by-point to accusations that simply don't match the text.
We'll discuss:
• What the PCA study committee actually says
• Why "Christian Nationalism" is so difficult to define
• The difference between biblical political theology and extremist ideology
• The history behind the PCA's founding
• Why accuracy matters when criticizing another church
Whether you agree with every conclusion or not, Christians should care deeply about representing both Scripture and our neighbors truthfully.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. What do you think the term "Christian Nationalism" means? Is it still a useful category, or has it become too broad to communicate clearly?
